PUBS OF THE YEAR ... THE WINNERS.
Members of Darlington CAMRA took time out in December to vote for their favourite town and country pubs and their overall favourite for the branch’s pub of the year competition.
For the Town Pub of the Year award, topping the votes once again was the Quaker House pipping similar as last year the Number Twenty-2. Joint third in the award were the ‘near neighbours’, the Old Yard Tapas and the JD Wetherspoon outlet The Tanners Hall on Bondgate and Skinnergate respectively.
For the Country Pub of the Year Award, The Crown at Manfield once again won the award. Runner up in the award was The Foresters at Coatham Mundeville, well deserved after being joint fourth place in last year’s competition. Joint third in the competition were the Red Lion in Cotherstone and the Bay Horse at Middridge, a newcomer to the award and again well deserved.
For the branch’s Pub of the Year 2012 Award, the Quaker House once again triumphed making it eight times in twelve years that it has won the award. Runner up in the award was the JD Wetherspoon outlet, The Tanners Hall. Four pubs tied for third place with two country pubs, the Crown at Manfield and the Stanwick at Aldbrough St John tying along with two town pubs, the Old Yard Tapas Bar in Bondgate plus The Britannia on Archer Street.
Thanks to all those who took part in the voting and congratulations go to all the award winners.
